What formula is used to guide fluid resuscitation in burns patients?
2ml per kg per TBSA
Half the total fluid is givin in first 8 hours.
The remaining half is given in the following 16 hours.
How do you make adjustments to the basic formula for fluid resuscitation in burns patients?
Titrate to renal output.
0.5ml per kg per hour for adults
1ml per kg per hour for children less than 30kg.

3mL per kg per TBSA
Categorising burns by thickness:
Superficial
Superficial partial thickness
Deep partial thickness
Full thickness
Features of superficial partial thickness:
Moist, painfully hypersensivive, blistered, homogenously pink, blanching.
Features of deep partial thickenss
Dry, less painful, blistered, red or mottled in appearance, do not blanch to touch.
Features of full thickness burns
Leathery.
Skin appears translucent or waxy white.
