Nasal and oral cavity
Allows air to enter and has mucus and hair to keep out foreign particles
Pharynx
Where moth and nose connect leading to esophagus
Epiglottis
A flap of cartilage that covers the windpipe when swallowing
Larynx
Is what makes us talk
Tranchea
Aka windpipe takes air to the bronchi
Bronchi
Leads into left or right lung and has cartilage bands
Bronchioles
Bronchi branches into bronchiolies each bronchus (singular) carry air into one of the lungs.
Alveoli
Tiny sacs 0.1-.2 mm in diameter.
Surrounded by capillaries.
Sure of gas diffusion between air and blood.
Concentration gradient
High to low pressure
*oxygen moves into blood, carbon moves out.
Diaphragm
Done shape muscle
Separates chest cavity from abdominal cavity.
regulates pressure
Inhalation(inspiration)
Muscle contract and shortens pull downward
Increase in volume, pressure decreases
Air enters lung
Exhale (expiration)
Muscle relax and returns original shape
Volume decreases, pressure increases
Air exist lungs
External respiration
Exchanges of gas between the environment and the humans body
Internal reputation
Gasses exchange including carbon and oxygen in body
Cellular respiration
Creates energy and turns oxygen into usable energy
