Cloud height definitions (temperate regions) + Exceptions

A

Low: below 2,000m / 6,500 ft
Medium (“Alto”): up to 7,000m / 21,000ft
High (“Cirro”): 5,000 to 13,000m / 16,500 to 45,000ft

Exceptions: Nimbostratus is almost always found at middle level but can extend into other levels, CBs have low base but high tops, Altostratus is often found at mid level but can extend hight
