Highest recorded temperature
Al-Azizia, Libya, was once thought to hold the record for the highest temperature. On September 13, 1922, a temperature of 58°C (136.4°F) was recorded there.
However, this record was later disqualified by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 2012 due to errors in the measurement.
Thus, the official highest temperature remains the 56.7°C (134°F) recorded in Death Valley, California in 1913.
