The importance of Shabbat today

A

Observing Shabbat is a core part of Jewish belief and practice
It is one of the fundamental commandments: by keeping it they are following God’s will
It is one of the 10 commandments
Brings Jews together and fosters a closer sense of community
Day of enjoyment, offering time for rest and time with family
Attend synagogue and Torah study groups
—> young people may meet together for discussion and socialising
Fulfils the mitzvot
