8.3 Flashcards
What are the 4 forces acting on aircraft?
Lift
Weight
Thrust
Drag
When does an equilibrium exist on an aircraft?
When the aircraft is in steady level flight.
What is the formula for moment?
Force x moment arm.
How is a moment created?
The distance between the centre of gravity and the centre of lift creating a rotating effect.
What must the load factor be on a bank turn of 45 degrees?
1.41
What is the force produced on an aircraft to produce a turn?
Centrifugal Force.
When an aircraft makes a turn, how is the altitude maintained?
Lift in turn must be equal to resultant of the centrifugal force and weight.
What is the load factor also called?
G- load
What are the principle lift augmentation devices?
Flaps
Slats
Slots
What do the flaps increase?
The camber of the wing.
What are the 4 types of flap?
Plain
Slotted
Split
Fowler
