8: Thermal Physics Flashcards
1
Q
Zeroth Law of Thermodynamics
A
If bodies A and B are separately in thermal equilibrium with body C, then bodies A and B are in thermal equilibrium with each other.
2
Q
State for ideal gas equation
A
- pV = nRT
* pV = NkT
3
Q
Boyle’s Law
A
When T is constant, pV is constant.
4
Q
Charles’ Law
A
When p is constant, V/T is constant.
5
Q
Gay Lussac’s Law / Pressure Law
A
When V is constant, P/T is constant.
6
Q
Kinetic Theory of Gas (Kinetic Molecular Theory)
Assumptions (6):
A
- Any gas consists of a very large no. of molecules.
- Molecules of a gas are in rapid & random motion.
- Collisions between gas molecules & gas molecules and walls of container are perfectly elastic.
- There are no intermolecular attractive forces.
- Intermolecular force of repulsion act only during collision between molecules.
Duration of collisions is negligible compared to time interval between coalitions. - Vol. of gas molecules is negligible compared to volume of container.
7
Q
Kinetic Theory Equation
A
p = ⅓ Nm/V
8
Q
R/s between KE and temperature
A
KE ∝ T
