Kinetic Theory of Gas (Kinetic Molecular Theory)

Assumptions (6):

A
  1. Any gas consists of a very large no. of molecules.
  2. Molecules of a gas are in rapid & random motion.
  3. Collisions between gas molecules & gas molecules and walls of container are perfectly elastic.
  4. There are no intermolecular attractive forces.
  5. Intermolecular force of repulsion act only during collision between molecules.
Duration of collisions is negligible compared to time interval between coalitions.
  6. Vol. of gas molecules is negligible compared to volume of container.
