7th Grade April Vocab Quiz Flashcards
Angle with a measure greater than 0° and less than 90°.
Acute angle
A triangle having three acute angles.
Acute triangle
Angles that have the same vertex, share a common side, and do not overlap.
Adjacent angles
Formed by two rays with a common endpoint.
Angle
The measure of the interior surface of a 2-dimensional figure.
Area
The set of all points in a plane that are the same distance from a given point.
Circle
The distance around a circle.
Circumference
Two angles that add up to 90°.
Complimentary angles
A 3-dimensional figure with one circular base connected by a curved surface to a single point.
Cone
Term that means to “have the same measure.”
Congruent
A 3-dimensional figure with two parallel congruent circular bases connected by a curved surface.
Cylinder
The most common unit of measure for angles.
Degrees
The distance across a circle through its center.
Diameter
An image larger than the original.
Enlargement
In a polygon, all of the sides are congruent.
Equiangular
A triangle having three congruent slides.
Equilateral triangle
Any angle that measures greater than 90° but less than 180°.
Obtuse angle
A triangle having one obtuse angle.
Obtuse triangle
The ratio of the circumference to its diameter. The greek letter π represents the number, 3.1415926…
Pi
A simple closed figure formed by three or more straight line segments.
Polygon
A polyhedron with with two parallel congruent faces (called bases).
Prism
A polyhedron with one base that is a polygon and three or more triangular faces that meet at a common vertex.
Pyramid
A closed figure having four sides and four angles.
Quadrilateral
The distance from the center of a circle to any point on the circle.
Radius
A prism that has two parallel congruent bases that are rectangles.
Rectangular prism
An image smaller than the original.
Reduction
A polygon that has all sides congurent and all angles congruent.
Regular polygon
A pyramid whose base is a regular polygon and in which the segment from the vertex to the center of the base is the altitude.
Regular pyramid
An angle that measures exactly 90°.
Right angle
A triangle having one right angle.
Right triangle
The scale that gives the ratio that compares the measurements of a drawing or model to the measurements of the real object.
Scale
A scale written as a ratio without units in simplest form.
Scale factor
A model used to represent objects that are too large or too small to be built at actual size.
Scale model
A triangle having no congruent sides.
Scalene triangle
An angle that measures exactly 180°.
Straight angle
Two angles with a sum of measures equaling 180°.
Supplementary angles
A quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides.
Trapezoid
A figure with three sides and three angles.
Triangle
The common endpoint of the rays forming an angle.
Vertex
The number of cubic units needed to fill the space occupied by a solid.
Volume
Opposite angles formed by the intersection of two lines. These angles are congruent to each other.
Vertical angles
