737 Memory Recall Items (NNC) Flashcards
Memorise NNC memory items
Aborted engine start ? (1 item)
- Engine start levers (confirm effected side) — CUTOFF
Airspeed unreliable (5 items)
- Autopilot ………………….. Disengage
- Auto throttle …………… Disengage
- F/D switches (both) …… Off
- Gear …………………… Up (Confirm or set) Depends on phase of flight
- Either:
Flap setting/pitch attitude:
4° with zero flaps @ 75% N1
10° extended flaps @ 80% N1
Note: If ASU occurs during take off, pitch to 15° nose attitude as per normal.
APU Fire (2 items)
- APU Fire switch …. CONFIRM ….. PULL, ROTATE to stop and HOLD for 1 sec.
- APU switch ………………… OFF
ENGINE FIRE or Engine Severe Damage or Separation (5 items)
- Autothrottle …. DISENGAGE
- Thrust lever (affected side) ………CONFIRM .…. CLOSE
- Engine start lever (affected side) …. CONFIRM ….. CUTOFF
- Engine fire switch (affected side) … CONFIRM ………. PULL
- IF engine fire switch OR ENG OVERHEAT light illuminates:
- Engine fire switch …………………………………………… ROTATE to the stop and hold for 1 sec.
- IF after 30 seconds the engine fire switch or ENG OVERHEAT light stays illuminated:
………………………………………………………………………… Rotate to the other stop and hold for 1 sec.
Cabin Altitude Warning or Rapid depressurisation (7 items)
- Don oxygen mask and set regulators to 100%.
- Establish crew communication.
- Pressurization mode selector ………………………….. MAN
- Outflow VALVE switch ……………………………………. Hold in CLOSE until the outflow VALVE indication shows fully closed.
- IF cabin altitude is uncontrollable:
- 1 Passenger signs ………………………………………………. ON
- 2 PASS OXYGEN switch ……………………………………… ON
Emergency Descent (7 items)
1 Announce the emergency descent over PA (Attention, this is the Captain, Emergency Descent)
PM declares emergency to ATC, “PAN-PAN - Descending! - REQUEST QNH”
2 Passenger signs . . . . . . . .. . . . . .ON (Should be turned on during Cabin altitude Warning procedure)
3 MCP: …….. Set LSALT/FL100
……… Select LVL CHG
4 ENGINE START switches (both) . . . . . . . . . CONT
5 Thrust levers (both) . . . . . . . . . Reduce to minimum or as needed for anti-ice
6 Speedbrake . . . . . . .FLIGHT DETENT
Check STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY before setting maximum descent speed - If structural integrity is in doubt, limit speed as much as possible and avoid high maneuvering loads.
7 Set target speed to Mmo/Vmo
- Squawk 7700
Note: The PF will advise the cabin crew, on the PA system, of impending rapid descent. The PM will advise ATC and obtain QNH.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, our condition is safe, oxygen is no longer required. Please remain seated. Cabin Crew resume normal duties”.
Engine LIMIT, SURGE or STALL (2 items)
- Autothrottle …………….. Disengage
- Thrust lever ……. CONFIRM …….. Retard until engine indications stay within limits.
Engine OVERHEAT (2 items)
- Autothrottle …………………………………………………. Disengage
- Thrust lever …………………. CONFIRM ………….. CLOSE
—> IF the ENG OVERHEAT light STAYS illuminated:
- Go to ENGINE FIRE, SEVERE DAMAGE or seperation checklist.
Loss of thrust on both engines (4 items)
- Engine START switches (BOTH) ……………………………… FLT
- Engine start lever (BOTH) ………………………. CUTOFF
- Close thrust levers
- When EGT decreases:
- Engine start levers (BOTH) ………….. IDLE detent
Check EGT: - IF EGT reaches 930° C (or RED LINE) or shows NO INCREASE within 30 seconds:
- Engine start lever (effected side): ………… CONFIRM ………………. CUTOFF,
…. then IDLE detent
Consider GEN BUSSES on APU, ENG Ignition SW to “BOTH” & Thrust lever’s closed
—> Repeat step 4 as needed to start engines.
The max engine EGT for starting engines ON THE GROUND is 725°C, in flight it is 930°C.
Runaway STABILISER (5 items
1 Control column. . . . . . . .. . . Hold firmly
2 Autopilot (if engaged) . . . . . . .. . . .Disengage
3 Autothrottle (if engaged). . . . . . . . . . .Disengage
4 Control column and thrust levers . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Control airplane pitch attitude and airspeed
5 Main ELECTRIC Stabilizer trim . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Reduce control column forces
■ ■ ■ ■
7 If the runaway continues after the autopilot is disengaged:
STAB TRIM cutout switches (both) . . . . . . .. . CUTOUT
If the runaway continues:
Stabilizer trim wheel . . . . . . . . . . Grasp and hold
If the runaway stops after the autopilot is disengaged: Do not re-engage the autopilot or autothrottle.
The control column must be held firmly before the autopilot is disconected
SEVERE TURBULENCE
Yaw Damper ………………………………..…ON
Passenger signs …………………………. ON
ENGINE START …………………………… FLT
AUTOPILOT ……………………………….. CWS A/P
Auto throttle………………………………. Disengage
Set thrust & SPEED as needed for the phase of flight. Change thrust setting only if needed to modify an unacceptable speed trend.
Note: If sustained trimming occurs, disengage the autopilot. NOTE: The airplane can withstand higher gust loads with the flaps UP
When should an engine start be aborted?
If…
- N1 or N2 increases very slowly after the EGT increases.
- No oil pressure indication by the time that the engine is stable at idle
- EGT does not increase by 10 seconds (CL), 15 seconds (NG) after the engine start lever is moved to IDLE
- EGT quickly nears or exceeds the start limit (CL= 725° C , NG = REDLINE)
—————————
Remember S.P.E.L
SLOW rotation
PRESSURE indication low
EGT anomalies
LIMITS exceeded (EGT redline)
~~~
If an engine fire occurs at V1, when should the memory items be initiated?
No lower than 400 feet AGL, when the flight path is under control and the gear has been retracted.
Engine Failure in cruise
Remember triangle
A/T, LSAT, LVL CHNG
- Identify failure (Confirm effected engine)
Control Aircraft (Aviate) - Auto Throttle DISENGAGE
- MCP: …….. Set LSALT/FL100
……… Select LVL CHG - Re-engage Autopilot if needed
Check CDU for EO speed and altitude
Engine FIRE in cruise
Remember triangle
Identify the failure:
“A/T, LSAT, LVL CHNG”:
- Auto Throttle DISENGAGE
- MCP: …….. Set LSALT/FL100
……… Select LVL CHG - Complete Engine FIRE NNC:
A/T : Disengage
Effected thrust lever: closed
Engine start lever: CUTOFF
Check CDU for EO speed and altitude
Re-engage autopilot
