737 Limitations Flashcards
Max operating pressure altitude
41,000 feet
Maximum takeoff/landing tailwind component
15 knots
Recommended severe turbulence penetration speed
Cruise:
Climb and descent:
Cruise: TURB N1 setting from cruise page
Climb and descent: 280 knots/.76 Mach
Note: if severe turbulence is encountered below 15,000’ and a/c gross weight less than max landing weight, a/c may be slowed to 250kts in clean configuration
Recommended crosswind component guidelines (knots)
RCC 6 takeoff? RCC5 takeoff?
RCC6: 33
RCC5: 25
Split scimitar winglet
(Split scimitar winglet assumes an engine failure RTO)
Recommended crosswind component guidelines (knots)
RCC 6 landing? RCC5 landing?
RCC6 landing: 37
RCC5 landing: 37
Split scimitar winglet
Split scimitar winglet:
- reduce landing x-wind guidelines by 5 knots on wet or contaminated runways when asymmetric thrust is used.
- winds measured at 33’ tower height and apply for runways 100’ or greater in width
- landing on untreated ice or snow should only be attempted when no melting is present
Icing conditions on the ground
OAT 10°C or below
(And visible moisture in any form is present or vis 1 mile or less)
(Or on ground when snow, standing water, etc. can be ingested by engines, freeze on engines, nacelles, or engine sensor probes)
(**For s.e. taxi can have #2 eng heat on (iso valve closed separates system for the #1 start off APU. Don’t try to start #1 eng w/wing heat on… it will hang (book says 2-eng taxi out when WAI req.)
Icing conditions in flight
TAT 10°C or below
And visible moisture present 1 mile or less vis
Autopilot minimum engagement height (takeoff or missed approach)
400’ AGL
Pelysys says 800’
Autopilot minimum altitude on approach:
- ILS/GLS coupled approach (no auto land)
- Non-Precision approach
- 50’ AGL
- 50’ below MDA/DA
(Autopilot must be disconnected below 500’ AGL without a published DA or MDA)
Can you use LVL CHG on final approach below 1000’ AFE?
No
Max flap extension altitude
20,000’
(Pelesys)
Autoland - Maximum winds
Headwind:
Crosswind:
Tailwind (flaps 30 and 40):
Headwind: 25
Crosswind: 15
Tailwind (flaps 30 and 40): 10
737-900 (aircraft 401-412) landing at flaps 30:
Field elevation 4,000’ or less: 10
Field elevation 4,001’-6,000’: 5
Field elevation 6,001’ and up: 0
In flight do not extend speed brake lever beyond ARMED detention with which flap setting selected?
Flaps 40°
