What is Selection of Jury and who is involved in it.
Jurors are selected for a courtroom. The judge or lawyers ask questions to see if they know about the case so they can make sure they’re not biased.
What are Opening Statements and who is involved in them?
To tell jurors about the case they will be hearing. It should only be facts proven by evidence.
What is Testimony and who is involved in it?
The plaintiff or prosecutor’s case is presented first. Lawyers representing the plaintiff ask questions, direct examination. Then the defendant’s lawyer ask questions this is called cross-examination. If a lawyer does not agree they can object and if the judge doesn’t agree with the objection they can overrule it.
What are Closing Arguments and who is involved in them?
The lawyers summarize the evidence and try to persuade the jury.
What are Instructions to Jury and who is involved in them?
The judge reads instructions to the jury, defines the issue and informs them of the law that covers the case.
What is Deliberation and who is involved in it?
The jury goes into a room and makes a decision on the case.
What is a Verdict and who is involved in it?
The Verdict is the results. When the jurors agree on the verdict they sign and notify the baliff.
