7. DESCRIPTION OF THE AIRPLANE AND ITS SYSTEMS Flashcards
What CFRP/GFRP stands for ?
Carbon/Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer
What does mean fail-safe design ?
Check book ATPL
What type of tail in a DA-42 ?
T-Tail
How the ailerons, elevator, wing flaps and rudder are controled ?
- The ailerons, elevator and wing flaps are operated through control rods,
- while the rudder is controlled by cables
the primary difference lies in the flexibility and material composition. Control rods are rigid and directly connect the control input to the control surface, while cables are flexible and can navigate through complex paths to transmit control inputs to surfaces
How flaps are driven ?
Electricaly : electric motor
What’s the colors related to each position of the flaps respectively :
* Up position
* App position
* LDG position
UP : Green
APP : White
LDG : White
When two lights are illuminated simultaneously, the flaps are between the two indicated
positions
What limits the elevator-up travel in the DA 42? and At what power setting and specific degree does the elevator-up travel limitation occur in the DA 42?
- An electrically operated actuator limits the elevator-up travel.
- The limitation occurs when the power setting of both engines exceeds approximately 20% (approach power setting).
- The elevator-up travel is limited to 13° when the power setting of both engines exceeds approximately 20% (approach power setting), which is 2.5° less than the full deflection of 15.5°.
When the power of one engine is reduced below approximately 20 %, or the flap selector is not in the LDG position, full elevator deflection is regained
Is it possible to adjust pedals in flight ?
No, on the ground
- What type of landing gear does the aircraft have? (method of operation)
- How are the struts for the landing gear configured?
- The aircraft has a fully retractable, hydraulically operated, tricycle landing gear.
- The struts for the landing gear are air oil assemblies.
How long does gear extension normally take?
6 - 10 s
What’s the color of the warning system when the gear is neither in the full up nor the full down position?
RED WARNING
In which cases the warning hotn sound to alert the pilot that the landing gear is retracted ?
- Power lever below 20%, or
- flaps LDG position
If installed a CHECK GEAR caution is indicated on the PFD additionally.
What type of brakes act on the wheels of the main landing gear?
Hydraulically operated disk brakes.
