What is working memory?
The place where information is stored while we think about it; lasts up to 30 seconds.
What is long-term memory?
Memory that lasts up to a lifetime, unconscious, and has practically unlimited capacity.
What is infantile amnesia?
The inability to recall events that occurred before three years of age.
What is metacognition?
The ability to think about thinking
What is constructivism?
The view that we construct our reality depending on how we interpret stimuli.
What is a scheme?
A mental map of some domain of knowledge.
What is assimilation?
The process by which new information is integrated into existing knowledge structures.
What is accommodation?
The process by which existing knowledge structures are changed to fit with new information.
What is centration?
The tendency to think of stimuli only in a one-dimensional way.
