What are the area controller’s responsibilities?
A
- Responsible for the aircraft in climb, descent and en-route phase of the flight.
- Issue levels, headings and speeds to separate aircraft to provide the most safe and expeditious routing to the exit point.
- Agreement with the next sector/controller

How many categories fo airspace are there in FIRs?
A
Two main categories of airspace
- Controlled
- Uncontrolled

How many and what are the airspace classes in the UK?
A
TThere are presently 5 classes of airspace.
- A, C, D and E are classes of controlled airspace
- Class G is outside controlled airspace

A
- The rules which apply,
- The minimum services which are to be provided, and
- Generally termed controlled and uncontrolled airspace
