What’s a biome?
A
A biome is a large region with its own distinct climate, plants and animals.The climate dictates what the biome is like.That’s because plants and animals adapt to suit the climate.

Properties of a semi- desert:
A
- The biome lies between the desert and the savanna.
- It is always warm or hot.
- There’s a little bit of rain but the rest of the year is dry.
- You might see wild dogs, cattle, goats, sheep, rodents and camels.

Properties of a hot desert:
A
- Hot in the day- up to 50 degrees but very cold at night because no nights to keep the heat in.
- Very little rain.
- Plants must be able to adapt to the environment.
- You will find low spiny shrubs with long roots, thick stems and with grasses.
- You’ll find camels, gazelles,, ostriches, vipers, desert hedgehogs and sand rats.

Properties of a savanna
A
- The savanna is warm all year with a rainy season and a little rain the rest of the year.
- It is rolling grassland with scattered trees.
- You may see lions, elephants, zebra and a giraffe.
- Desertification is a problem.

Properties of a rainforest:
A
Warm and wet all year
Thousands of species of plants
Animals include chimps, gorillas, monkeys, snakes, hippos and hundreds of species of bird.
Much of the rainforest had been destroyed.
