  • An electronegative atom with a long pair (ATOMS O, N or F)
  • Hydrogen atom attached to the electronegative atom.

What are some anomalous properties of water?

A
  • Ice is less dense than water as the hydrogen bonds hold the water molecules further apart
    • Creates an open lattice structure
  • BP and MP is high in water as more energy is required to break the hydrogen bonds
