ancient Greece has many mountain ranges, making communication and farming difficult, the Greek cities never attempted to unite under one government. surrounded by seas, the Greek learned to become skillful sailors and merchants.

describe the trojan war and why it was started.
The Trojan War was the fight between the Greeks and the people of troy. The fight was started over mainly love, but partially over trade disputes as well. The greeks gave an “offering” of a giant wooden horse to troy and pretended to abandon the fight. that same night, the greek came out of the wooden horse they were hiding in, opened the gate for the soldiers that were waiting outside, and they burned the city of troy down, claiming their victory.

what are commonalities between our government and the ancient athens?
our government and the Athenians both have different representative groups, we both have the requirement of being 18 to have voting rights, we both are in a democracy, we both have to be at least 30 and a citizen to be a representative.
in Greek city state governments, voting was open to who?
citizens (free men born in that city state)
how could you be a citizen in Athens? what did it take to be a citizen?
in order to be a citizen, you had to be a free male, over the age of 18, and both of your parents had to be Athenians.

a group of people who made laws
what were two common forms of government in early ancient greece?
tyranny and oligarchy
who was Draco, what was he known for?
Draco was an aristocratic leader, created a legal code with very harsh punishments
what was the phalanx and what was the big deal about it?
the phalanx was a military formation of soldiers who moved in a unit, this allowed more men to engage in combat and it was a strong defense.
what is the difference between a representative and direct democracy?
a representative democracy is where citizens elect others to represent them in a government, meanwhile, a direct democracy is where citizens directly participate in decision-making.
