6. Technical understanding (6.4 How can electronic systems offer functionality to design solutions?) Flashcards
Switches and sensors
Electronic switches and sensors are components that can detect changes in physical or environmental conditions and convert them into electrical signals that can be used by other components in an electronic system. For example, a temperature sensor can detect changes in temperature and send a signal to a control device to adjust heating or cooling.
Programmable control devices
These are devices that can be programmed to perform a specific function or sequence of functions. They can be used to control a variety of systems, from simple devices like a thermostat to complex industrial automation systems.
Signal amplification
This refers to the process of increasing the strength of an electronic signal. Amplifiers are used to boost the strength of a signal so that it can be transmitted over longer distances or to overcome noise or other interference.
Devices to produce a variety of outputs including light, sound, motion
These are components that are used to convert electrical signals into physical outputs such as light, sound or motion. Examples include speakers that convert electrical signals into sound waves, motors that convert electrical signals into mechanical motion, and LEDs that produce light when a current is passed through them.
