6 Month Flashcards
Nose high unusual attitude recovery steps
- Disengage AP/AT
- Pitch down and add thrust (if unable roll 45 deg)
- Careful rudder usage only if ailerons not effective
- Return to safe level flight
Nose low unusual attitude recovery steps
- Disengage AP/AT
- Thrust idle, speed brakes, level wings. (Forward pressure may be necessary until bank is less than 90 degrees)
- Gently bring nose to horizon (minimize G forces)
- Return to a safe speed and level flight.
PF Stall Recovery steps
- Say “STALL”
- Disconnect AP/AT
- Nose down and wings level
- MAX thrust and say “MAX THRUST”
- Accelerate to safe speed, normal flight path
- If in landing or takeoff config, retract gear and flaps like normal go around procedure
PM Stall recovery steps
- Say “STALL”
- Verify AP/AT disconnected
- Verify thrust is MAX and speed brakes stowed
- Monitor and call out flight path, speed, and VSI trends to assist PF to return to positive rate of climb
- Configure as necessary
PF EGPWS procedure
- Disconnect AP/AT
- Simultaneously select MAX thrust and pitch up 20 degrees (or PLI, whichever lower)
- Maintain configuration, until terrain is cleared
- Climb to MSA or MORA
- Clear terrain and resume normal flight
PM EGPWS procedure
- Verify MAX thrust and speed brakes stowed
- Turn on FSTN BELTS
- Scan for visual reference
- Call our radio altitude indications
- Read MFD terrain indications and guide for best course of action. Indicate when obstacles cleared.
- Communicate with ATC.
TCAS TA PF procedure
- Place hands on controls and throttles
- Scan visually
- Adjust vertical speed as necessary
TCAS TA PM procedure
- Turn all external lights on
- Turn on FSTN BELTS
- Ask ATC about proximity to traffic
- Scan for traffic
Regarding a TCAS TA, how much can you deviate from assigned altitude?
Up to 200’ for a traffic ADVISORY. Obviously an RA does not have any limitations
What if you get a climb RA while descending in the landing configuration?
Smoothly adjust pitch into the green, and perform a normal go around procedure
Do you follow the flight director in an RA?
No. It’s not tied into the TCAS system so ignore it and fly into the green.
TCAS RA PF procedure
- Disconnect the AP
- Smoothly pitch for the green
- Scan for traffic
- Continue to follow the guidance unless visual contact with intruder requires other action
- When TCAS says “clear of conflict”, maneuver airplane back to ATC cleared altitude.
- Re-establish AP as needed.
TCAS RA PM procedure
- Confirm the PF’s action and visually scan for traffic
- Notify ATC that you are responding to an RA
- When clear, tell ATC you are returning to original altitude, or coordinate with them for a new one.
What if you experience a stall while responding to an RA?
- Immediately abandon the RA and execute a stall recovery.
- TCAS will still provide guidance throughout the Stall and recovery.
WINDSHEAR PF recovery procedure
- Announce “WINDSHEAR”
- AP disengage
- MAX thrust and press TOGA button
- Pitch for the WS flight director guidance. If none, pitch for 15 degrees or PLI, whichever is less.
- Climb to 1500AGL and clear of terrain, then resume normal speed and configuration
- Make logbook entry when you land regarding use of MAX thrust.
