6. Greenhouse Gases Flashcards

1
Q

What is the VSEPR theory?

A

Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion Theory.

It is based on the idea that the shape of a molecule or polyatomic ion is determined by repulsion among pairs of electrons associated with a central atom.

Only valence electrons of the central atom can influence the molecular shape in a meaningful way.
