Setting
Where or when a story takes place
Protagonist
The leading character of a novel
Plot
The events (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) in the story
Antagonist
Something bad the bad thing/guy
Complications
the problem the struggle.
Exposition
The first part of the plot, characters, setting, and basic situation are revealed.
Inciting Incident
The event the sets the story into motion, makes the rest of the story possible.
Rising Action
Main part of the story in motion, moves the plot along, where complications arise.
Climax
The OMG, turning point, exciting part of the story.
Falling Action
The events that follow the climax and lead to the resolution, conflix being moved towards resolution.
Resolution
The end of story, questions are answered.
Cliffhanger
An ending to a section, chapter or book that leads the reader wondering.
Foreshadowing
Thinks or clues suggesting what may happen next.
Suspense
The anxiety a reader feels about what may happen next in the story.
Flashback
Interrupting the plot of the story to recreate an incident from a earlier time.
