The phrase “used to” should be used for past tense or things that are customary (normal).

Expected to = supposed to, and thinking = changes tense depending on context of sentence.
Granted vs. Granite
Granite is a stone (noun or adjective depending on context), grant(ed) is a verb
Effect vs. Affect
Effect is a noun (nouns have articles *a, an), affect is a verb
Peek vs. Peak vs. Pique
Peek = look, peak = highest point, pique = verb, raise/simulate mind/emotion
Our vs. Are
Our is a possessive (goes infront of a noun) Are is a plural verb used after a noun or pronoun
Loose vs. Lose
Loose (adjective) and lose (verb)
Then vs. Than
Then (time word)
Than (comparing word)
Assure vs. insure vs. ensure
Assure = convince & confirm /reassure
Insure = related to insurance
Ensure = take action
Complement vs. Compliment
Complement = enhance/add
Compliment = to praise
Farther vs. Further
Farther = used more real, physical distance
Further = used to mean either more or a metaphorical distance
Lead vs. Led
Lead is a verb and present tense noun & led is the past tense noun of lead
Accept vs. Except
Accept = verb to take in/receive
Except = exclude/exempt
Lie vs. Lay
Lie = Humans only
Lay = everything else/ objects
To vs. Too
Use “too” when discussing an amount or addition.
