13
Q

Example of homeostasis is that…

A

Your body maintains a temperature of about 37 degrees Celsius (98.6 degrees Fahrenheit). When you’re hot you sweat; when you’re cold you shiver; this is your body trying to return things to normal.

16
Q

Asexual reproduction means….?

A

One parent; offspring are identical to the parent.

17
Q

Sexual reproduction means…..?

A

Two parents; offspring have characteristics of both parents.

18
Q

Living things have what…….?

A

DNA

19
Q

DNA stands for…..?

A

Deoxyribonucleic acid

20
Q

DNA encodes………that are the blueprint for life

A

Genes

21
Q

Living things use…..?

A

Energy

22
Q

Energy is required to carry out all day-to-day activities

What are some examples of activities that require energy?

A

Walking, thinking, digesting food, running, talking, exercising

23
Q

Living things grow and……?

All organisms grow during periods of their lives.
They……..or change in form as they grow.

A

Develop

24
Q

Examples of things that Grow and develop….

A

Frog egg/tadpole/frog
Baby/Teen/Adult

25
Q

What characteristics of living things does a river have? Is a river alive?

A

A river is not alive because it only applies to one of the characteristics to living things which is reacting to stimuli

26
Q

What does the fur coat of a bear have to do with homeostasis?

A

The bears fur has to do with homeostasis because it causes the bear not to be cold due to the cold weather

27
Q

What are some stimuli in your environment and how do you respond?

A

Turning on the lights might make me squint. Or if i feel something hot I will pull away

28
Q

Why are most cells 70 percent water?

A

Used in all the chemical reactions in the cell. If the water is not replaced, cells will shrink and eventually die

29
Q

Could life as we know it exist on Earth if oxygen was the only gas in our air? Why or
why not?

A

I think not because oxygen is needed by most animals and plants. Plus if it was the only gas in our air tree would not produce oxygen because there would be not carbon dioxide that the leaves would pull in

30
Q

How can a cave meet the needs of an organism?

A

It’s a place to live, it has air, can have water and is a good place to lure prey in and get food and to shelter
