Normality
- State of having T, F, B that are considered common and acceptable.
- No universal way of describing it.

Socio-cultural
Based on particular cultural and social expectations that the person is in.
Functional
If the person is able to cope with functioning normally in society.
Historical
Based on time or era.
Medical
Abnormal T F B are considered to have underlying biological causes and can be diagnosed and treated.
Statistical approach
If the majority T F B in a certain way.
Situational
Considered normal in one situation but not another.
Typical behaviour
Typical - behaviours that the typical/normal/average person would behave in.
Atypical behaviour
Not typical - noticeably different from what is usual/appropriate,
Adaptive behaviour
Actions that enable a person to effectively carry out their usual everyday tasks.
Maladaptive behaviour
Behaviours that interfere with one ability to carry out their usual activity in an effective way.
Mental health
A state of wellbeing where an individual realises their ability to cope with the normal stresses of life, to work productively, and to make contributions to the community.
Mental health problem
Most often occurs as a result of a life stressor, less severe, shorter duration than mental disorder.
Mental health disorder
Involves a combination of T F B which impair the ability to function affectively in everyday life.
