5.6.8 Uses of Triose Phosphate Flashcards

1
Q

How is TP used by the plant after the light independent stage?

A
  • 1/6 of TP condenses to form hexose phosphates (6C)
  • Can be used to produce starch, sucrose or cellulose
  • TP can be converted to glycerol, and GP to fatty acids, so lipids can form to make cell membranes
  • TP used in synthesis of amino acids for proteinsynthesis
  • 5/6 of TP used to restore RUBP, requiring ATP

What is ATP from photosynthesis used in?

A
  • Reproducing RUBP
  • Reducing GP to TP using NADPH
  • Converted to useful organic molecules
