5.6.8 Uses of Triose Phosphate Flashcards
1
Q
How is TP used by the plant after the light independent stage?
A
- 1/6 of TP condenses to form hexose phosphates (6C)
- Can be used to produce starch, sucrose or cellulose
- TP can be converted to glycerol, and GP to fatty acids, so lipids can form to make cell membranes
- TP used in synthesis of amino acids for proteinsynthesis
- 5/6 of TP used to restore RUBP, requiring ATP
2
Q
What is ATP from photosynthesis used in?
A
- Reproducing RUBP
- Reducing GP to TP using NADPH
- Converted to useful organic molecules
