Shift in agriculture away from small, family-operated farms to large, industrial-scale agribusiness
what do they start to increase to use in the green rev?
Increased use of mechanization, GMOs, irrigation, fertilizers, and pesticides
advantage of the green rev
- increases the profit and efficiency of farming and food supplies
- Decreased world hunger and
- increased earth’s carrying capacity
disadv of the green rev
- soil erosion (remove of topsoil by wind, rain, human activity)
- biodiversity loss
- ground & surface water contamination, bad for humans
Mechanization
The use of machines to perform farming tasks, increasing efficiency and productivity.

- Increases reliance on fossil fuels (gasoline/diesel fuel) ,climate change

High-Yield Variety (HYV)
modified crops that have higher yield(생산량), Hybrid (plant 두개 짝짓기), GMO (plant에다가 gene을 합친다, new gene in genome)
GMOs
Genetically Modified Organisms are organisms whose DNA has been altered for specific traits, like pest resistance or higher yields.

다 똑같아서 less BIODIVERSITY, easily 공격당해(susceptibility) to diseases or pest(벌레)
Synthetic (인조) Fertilizer
man-made chemical fertilizer designed to supply essential nutrients like nitrogen(N), phosphorus(P), and potassium(K) to plants, promoting growth and increasing agricultural yields.

Increases yield and profits with more key nutrients needed for plant growth (N, P, K) added to the soil

Irrigation (관개 /인공적인 물 발사)
Drawing water from the ground or nearby surface waters and distributing it on fields to increase plant growth

disadv of irrigation
- to much water can drown roots, so they don’t have space for O2,
- also cause soil salinization (increase salt level in soil) 물안에 소금이 있는데, 안에 잇는 물이 나중에 증발하면 소금밖에 없다
Pesticides
chemicals used to kill or control pests, such as insects, weeds, fungi, or rodents, to protect crops and improve yields.

disadv of pesticides
Can wash off crops in runoff and kill or harm non-target species in local soil or waters (bees especially) / 농작물에 뿌린 농약이 빗물이나 관개수와 함께 씻겨 내려가며, 주변의 토양이나 물로 유입될 수 있다는 뜻입니다. 물도 오염하고, 물에 사는 물고기, 식물을 먹는 다른 동물이 죽을수도
