Alarm reaction phase
The initial stage of (gas) where the body reacts to a stressor of flight or fight
Flight or fight response
The reaction to perceived threats the bodies reaction to survival
Resistance phase
Second stage of(gas) the body tries to adapt to a stressor
Exhaustion phase
Final stage of (gas) body’s resources are depleted after prolonged stress, leading to decreased stress tolerance
Tend and befriend theory
Instead of struggling with stress alone they seek social support to cope
Problem, focused coping
Directly managing/solving the stress
Emotion focused coping
Managing emotional response to stress rather than changing stressful situation
