Abstaining from food, drink and sex during the daylight hours

What is the significance of Hajj?
Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca that every Muslim must undertake at least once in their lifetime if they are able.

Pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca to the Kaaba

8th to 13th day of Dhul Hijjah
Which Pillar of Islam is the foundation of a Muslim’s faith?
Shahadah
What must Muslims do before Salah?
Wudhu, ritual washing
Why do Muslims perform Wudhu?
Symbolic action of cleanliness and purity
Honour/respect for Allah
What does Wudhu involve?
Same set pattern of washing parts of the body which will be used during Salah e.g mouth (speaking), hands (touching the ground) etc.
What does Niyyah mean?
Muslim’s intention/purpose to worship Allah with a pure heart

Adhan (Call to Prayer)
What is the significance of the Kaaba during Hajj?
The Kaaba is the holiest site in Islam and the direction Muslims face during prayer.
How does Zakat help Muslims follow Muhammed’s example?
Muhammed had empathy and compassion for the poor, and he grew up in poverty
