Shahada Salat Sawm Zakat Hajj
What is the shahada
Deceleration of faith
All day everyday
“There is no god but Allah and his messenger”
• for a person to be confiscate Muslim they just fully accept and agree with the shahada
• say shah da with their dying breath and into new born ears
•often heard in a mosque
• reminds Muslims of their faith, you cannot be a Muslim
Without agreeing to the shahada
•there is no point completing the other pullers if you can’t complete this one
What is the salat
Praying
Everyday 5 times in the direction of Mecca
•Muslims must try their best to always pray in the mosque and make extra effort to attend on Friday as as this is the ‘seal’ of all prophet day
•daily prayers
Fajr- between dawn + sunrise
Zvhr- just before midday
Asr- during the afternoon
Maghrib- just after sunset
Isha- during hours of darkness
•Muslims must perform wudu before praying to ensure they are clean and purified before meeting allah
•they don’t need to perform wudu before each prayer as long as they have not done a breaking action: cannot loose consciousness eg sleeping or fainting. Nothing can come out of u eg pee or wind
•if a Muslim has sex inbetween prayers they must perform Wudu again
What is the sawm
Fasting during the month of Ramadam
•during ramadam muslimes fast for 29days from sunrise to sunset, they must continued as normal throughout the day
•exceptions: pregnant woman, the poor, the old and the young
•during Ramadan u must not have sex, smoke, fight or argue
•at the end everyone celebrates the poor eats with the rich
•the purpose of Ramadan is to develop deeper connection with Allah
What is zakat
Muslims give 2.5% of their wealth to charity. By wealth Muslims include materials such a jewellery
•all Muslims should complete unless they are finically strained insted they will revive the support
•they believe life is a test and how someone uses and shows their wealth will impact where they end up
•Muslims belige wealth is a gift from Allah and it should be shared
•purpose is to ensure Muslims are not selfish and are able to help local communities and people
What is hajj
Muslims aim to complete the Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime, when completing they go to mount arafoot
•when Muslims complete this they are reborn and all there sins are forgiven
•roughly 3 million people complete this each year and costs around £4-6000
•purple of hajj is to show devotion to Allah and follow in the prophet Muhammad’sfootspes
Important impacts
- by completing 5 pullers Muslims should end up on al hannah as they are pleasing Allah and following the prophet muhammed
- completing sawm and skate Muslims show they are good khaliphas as they are supporting and helping the poor
- completing 5 pullers means u will form a stronger relationship with Allah and therefore you can ask for forgiveness if needed
- 5 pillers bring together the Islamic community as they are doing the same acts so they can supprt each other
