What does PDI stand for?
Prosthodontic Diagnostic Index
What are diagnostic criteria for partial edentulism?
- Abutment condition
- Occlusal scheme
- Location/extend edentulous areas
- Residual ridge
What is the location criteria for partial edentulism class I?
Single arch
- single edentulous area in 1 sextant
- Anterior max <2 incisors
- Anterior mand <4 incisors
- Posterior <2 PM or 1PM + 1 Molar
What is the abutment criteria for partial edentulism class I?
No need for pre-prosth therpay
What is the occlusion criteria for partial edentulism class I?
Class I relationship
What is the residual ridge criteria for partial edentulism class I?
Class I
What is the location criteria for partial edentulism class II?
Both arches and one of the following:
- anterior max < 2 incisors
- anterior mand < 4 incisors
- Posterior < 2 PM or 1PM and 1 molar
- any missing canine!!
What is the abutment criteria for partial edentulism class II?
Abutment in 1-2 sextants

- Class I relationship
What is the tooth condition criteria for dentate class II?
- moderately compromised
- insufficient tooth structure in 1 sextant
