Lover/Partner
For a couple who is not married, the word **amante** can be translated as lover, but the term **pareja**, used very frequently, is more than simply *partner or significant other*. It more accurately refers to a couple. Use the words **novio/a** and **prometido/a** for *boyfriend/girlfriend* and *fiancé/fiancée* respectively.
