The poem is about a 15 year old girl who is shot in the head on the way to school however, despite this attack she recovers and still keeps going to school.

Imtaz Dharker was raised in Glasgow but born in Pakistan. She often writes about human strength over adversity.

- oppression- the school girl’s oppressors use violence against her
- Defiance- the girl walks on defying the oppressors, inspiring other girls to fight for their right for education
what is the significance of the title and what does it reference?
A century later reference the Wilfred own poem of Anthem for doomed youth which is about young soldiers killed in the war . The poems are written a hundred years apart.
