- unequal society
-France was bankrupt - Class war as many hated the monarch power
- inequality between nobility and commoner
Who organised the revolution?
Middle class
Common people, shopkeepers, journalists, lawyers
As they were more educated
what did they do and insist for?
They formed their own government and insisted fair taxes abolished aristocracy
What did the middle class want?
Their ideals of freedom
Why did they storm the Bastille?
As they wanted gunpowder for weapons and was a symbolic Image of oppression

What happened to the king when he tried to escape?
He managed to escape from Paris not well disguised but his wife was spotted so they were caught and taken back to Paris.
What happened to king Louis back in Paris?
He was put on trial for treason
Driven through Paris to be executed
Afterwards even more people were killed just because they’re rich

His execution frightened monarchies of Europe

The guillotine

Napoleon as he decided himself to rule the people
How do you think the British interpret the events which took place in Paris?
-strange, that middle class can make such a difference as to overthrow a monarch but its dependant on your class
-extreme as the riots happened fast with a lot of the population becoming involved
-Rich people would feel worried yet interested as they can easily access knowledge for the revolution
-disappointed through the chaos and blood that it caused

Put them as the leading power of Europe due to their military development as it proved they could keep up with France.
