What is a Node?
Any device on a network.
Types of Nodes:
DTE (data terminal equipment)
DCE (data communication equipment)
Explain the difference between DTE and DCE.
DTE stores or generates data.
DCE controls data speed, signal conversion, error checking and routing.
What a router does?
Control data flow & act as a gateway.
What a modem does?
Converts signals for communication channels.
Explain the difference between a router and a switch.
A router connects different networks, uses IP adresses to send data between networks and decides which path data should take to reach its destination.
A switch connects devices within the same network, uses MAC addresses to send data to the right device on the same network and doesn’t decide how data should leave your local network (just helps devices to talk to each other within that network)
