5-13 - Software Management Flashcards
What are the established design assurance levels according to DO-178B
Levels A to E
What design assurance level are flight control and navigation systems?
A
What design assurance level are IFE systems?
E
Modern LRUs contain there software in different packages called?
- Core software
- Operational software/Application software
- Database
What function does the Core software perform?
It defines the individual system. It interfaces one LRU with another
Who can modify level A software?
Only authorised personnel
Who can modify level E software?
Any maintenance personnel
Why must the core software never be touched?
It is past of the control loop of the aircraft. This software can only be modified with the agreement of the LRU manufacturer
When can operational/application software be changed by bypassing the LRU manufacturer
If the airline engineering guarantees an equivalent level of safety
What level of software can be changed without a manufacturers involvement
If it is guaranteed that the software is level E
What are th categories of software
- Field loadable Software (FLS)
- Aeronautical databases
- Factory loaded software
What is the aircraft configuration list (ACL)
A list of LRUs and modules with loadable software airplane parts (LSAP) that are applicable to a specific aircraft
What is Field Loadable Software (FLS)
Software, including data tables that can be loaded without removing the system from its installation
What is Loadable software aircraft part (LSAP)
Field loadable software that is considered to be part of the aircraft approved design
