Types of Verbals
Participles
Gerund
Infinitive
the name of a person, animal, place, or thing.
Noun
words used to describe a noun or pronoun.
Adjectives
Answers the question How, where, when, how much, how often, etc.
Adverbs
Verb in form but functions as an adjective. (mostly ends with -ing if present) (ends with -ex, -d, -nt, -t if past)
Participle
Functions as a noun (ends in -ing)
Gerund
- Functions as an adjective, noun, or adverbs. (to + present simple)
Infinitive
a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence, such as hear, become, happen.

It can be a subject, object, or complement.
Infinitive as nouns
describes and gives out more information about a noun.
Infinitives as adjectives:
Can modify a verb. Adjective, or another adverb. We can ask the questions “How, Why, To what extent?”
