Q

In a fission reaction how is

Electricity produced

A

Heat energy produced by fission is removed by coolant which passes its energy to water through a heat exchanger producing steam to drive the turbines which turns electricity producing generators.

Q

In fusion how is

Electricity produced

A

Most (80%) of the energy produced in fusion is carried away by a neutron with no electrical charge. The neutrons are absorbed into the surrounding walls and their kinetic energy is turned to heat. This is captured by cooling water circulating in the walls which then produces steam and goes on to spin a turbine.
