What does water treatment do?
Physical, chemical, physicochemical and biological factors that want to eliminate and/or reduce contamination or non-desirable characteristics of water.
A summary of filtering/sorting steps in the water treatment system…
Large Garbage is taken out, breakdown by bacteria than more filters to take out smaller garbage.
What is alum?
A chemical that is added to help the particles flocculate.
What does flocculate mean?
It means to clump together
What are flocs?
Flocs are clumps of particles that have flocculated.
What are water mains?
Water mains are large delivery pipes that lead to a water tower.
What are secondary mains?
Secondary mains are delivery pipes that lead water to street mains that lead to homes.
What is the sanitary sewer system?
Large pipes that carry waste that is considered sewage; from your sinks, toilets and baths.
