45 Engine Systems Flashcards
What do the hydraulic systems control
Steering nozzles, reversing buckets, interceptors
What are the steering and reversing buckets controlled by
Vector
What RPM shall you not exceed when back flushing
1200RPM
How do the generators work
- Generators send power to the alternating current unit (ACU, 2each) and then produces a clean 240 volts @60Hz
- ACU then sends it to the transformer and makes 240/120 volts
What does the 1.02:1 ratio mean for the reduction gear
The engine crank shaft will rotate 1.02 times for every one turn on the impeller shaft
What are Restrictive discrepancies
Those which restrict the operations of the asset such that it can preform some but not all activities safely
What are some examples of RBM restrictive discrepancies examples
•Engine coolant temp is between 186 and 211
• Bilge pumps inoperable
•VHF-FM radio inoperative
Radar inoperative
What are Major discrepancies
Major discrepancies are those that degrade the effectiveness of the boat to preform one or more missions
What are some major discrepancies for the RBM
- deviation table missing
- depth sounder inoperable
- radar inoperable
- one generator not operating properly
- water tight integrity
What are disabling Casualties
Disabling casualties are those that make the boat Not Mission Capable
Examples of disabling casualties
Electronics will not energize
FM-200 is inoperable
Hull breach below the waterline
