4.3.1 Chemical measurements, conservation of mass and the quantitative interpretation of chemical equations Flashcards

1
Q

What is the law of conservation of maths?

A

The law of conservation of mass states that no atoms are lost or made during a chemical reaction so the mass of the products equals the mass of the reactants.

Q

Define relative atomic mass and relative formula mass.

A

Relative atomic mass - average mass of atoms in an element taking into account masses and abundance of its isotopes, relative to carbon - 12
Relative formula mass - sum of relative atomic mass of all atoms in the formula.
