4.3 component characteristics Flashcards
How do you calculate the resistance of an appliance?
R = V / I
What happened to a filament lamps resistance if the temperature increases?
It increases
What happens if a thermistors temperature increase
The resistance decreases
Why does a light – dependent resistors resistance decrease?
Because the light intensity on it increases
What is a diode?
A non-Ohmic conductor that has a much higher resistance in its reverse direction then it’s forward direction
What is a light – emitting diode (LED)
A diode that emits light when it conducts
What is a thermistor?
A resistor whose resistance depends on the temperature of the thermistor
What is a light – dependent resistor (LDR)
A resistor whose resistance depends on the intensity of the light incident on it
