When people are unable to afford sufficient necessities to maintain life.
What is relative poverty?
People’s income compared to others in the area.
What is the poverty line?
The minimum level of income required to achieve an adequate standard of living in a given country.
How is absolute poverty measured?
The World Bank defines anyone living on less than $1.90 a day as living in absolute poverty.

When people have an income of less than 60% of median household income (UK 2017: £27,300).
