A well-supported, widely accepted explanation for the events in the natural world.
What is a Law?
A statement that describes a natural phenomena.
What is the definition of Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics?
The theory that characteristics acquired during an organism’s lifetime could be passed to its offspring.
What is the definition of a Fossil?
The remains of past life found in sedimentary rock.
What is the definition of Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection?
A well-supported, widely accepted explanation of how species have changed, and continue to change, during Earth’s history as a result of natural selection.
What is the definition of Paleontology?
The study of ancient life through the examination of fossils.
What is the definition of Gradualism?
Gradual change occurs in a steady, linear way of time.
What is Punctuated Equilibrium?
Evolutionary history is said to consist of long periods of equilibrium, interrupted by periods of speciation.
