Why is Economics a Social study
uses scientific method to build theory’s , economics is the scientific study of the ownership use and exchange of scarce resources

Positive statement definition
a statement that can be proved or disproved , e.g the price of oil has gone up
Normative statement definition
cannot be proved or disproved e.g opinions or value judgement - ‘oil prices are too high’
What are the influences on choices & policies in economics
opportunity cost , positive consequences , beliefs , fairness , incentives
What is a social science ?
the scientific study of human society and social relationships
Value Judgement
A subjective statement of opinion rather than a fact.
Moral Judgement
Judgements that have moral content; they are used to evaluate situations, courses of action, persons, behaviour etc.
Political Judgement
Political judgement is based on the need to appeal to selected groups of people.
Microeconomics
The part of economics concerned with single factors and the effects of individual decisions.
