Natonalism
a way of thinking that says that groups of humans, such as ethic groups, should be free to rule themselves. Nationalists think that the best way to make this happen and avoid control or oppression by others is for each group to have their own nation.
Patriotism
the quality of being patriotic; devotion to and vigorous support for one’s country.
Imagined Community
a nation as a socially-constructed community, imagined by the people who perceive themselves as part of a group.
Segregation
a policy of keeping groups of people separate, within society
Moderate
make or become less extreme,intense,rigorous or violent
Conservative
averse to change or innovation and holding traditional values
Concession
a thing that is granted, especially in response to demands
Diaspora
the dispersion or spread of any people from their original homeland
Mandate
an official order or commission to do something
Intellectual
an educated thinker and writer/philosopher
Liberate
set (someone) free from imprisonment, slavery, or oppression
Emancipation
the fact or process of being set free from legal, social, or political restrictions;liberation
Charismatic
exercising a compelling charm which inspires devotion in others
Xenophobia
the fear of foreigners within one’s country and the acts of violence and persecution that accompanies this
