Soil
The top layer of the Earth, two meters thick.
Soil types
Different kinds of soil particles. In the Netherlands: sand, loess, clay and peat.
Push moraines
Sediments pushed up by glaciers to form hills.
Dolmen
Large structures, built of large rocks.
Boulder clay
An impermeable layer, formed from rocks that were pulverised by ice sheets.
Parcels
Land that is divided in different pieces, enclosed by ditches, trees or roads.
Landscape
The total surface of an area, rural and urban, includes both natural and man-made features.
Natural landscape
Landscape untouched by humans, completely formed by nature itself.
Cultural landscape
Landscape that has been shaped under the influence of humans.
Geological timescale
A way for geologists to divide time.
