Millwork is a term that encompasses?
-cabinets
-built ins
-consoles
-bank counters
What should you do with your tools when leaving a jobsite for the night?
Lock them in a toolbox, locking room, job trailer, secured building, or you pack them up and take them with you
When should protective packaging be on your millwork?
Leave it on till you install, then wrap that bad boy back up because other people are rude and will ding your shit
A couple things to consider a week before starting an install?
-protecting flooring and other rooms (dust and debris)
-electrical rough in locations
If a wall is NON LOAD bearing, what can you do to rectify issues?
the studs can be cut, straightened, or braced, but you gotta fix the drywall
if its load bearing keep your grimy paws off it
Double check these things before starting your install
-plumb/level/square (it won’t be any of these, so you need shims, fillers, maybe some trim to cover gaps)
-location of cabinets and appliances (is it all going to fit?)
-find and mark your studs
-plumbing check (like pipes not straight walls)
What is included in a plumbing check?
Locations of stubbed out water lines (sink, maybe fridge and dishwasher), drain lines, and maybe a gas line (stove)
Where should you shim an upper cabinet that is racked and causing door alignment issues?
One or both corners of your longest diagonal
How much toe room should you include in a kick?
50-100mm / 2”-4”
Why would you install a kick before mounting it to your cabinets?
easier to level, then you just drop your cabinets on, bing bang boom level cabinets
Some places you should include a scribe?
where kicks meet walls
same same but countertops
You’ve got walls on both sides of a short run, the module suggests you do what before making the countertop?
