IAF Chief Inaugurates First-Ever EMRS in
Karnataka
Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, the Chief of
the Air Staff (CAS) of Indian Air Force (IAF) has
inaugurated the first-ever Emergency Medical
Response System (EMRS) at Command Hospital Air
Force (CHAF) in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
✓ The EMRS is a 24/7 telephonic
medical helpline for serving IAF personnel and
their families across India.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development
(MoWCD) has officially dissolved the Food and
Nutrition Board (FNB), as part of a government
rationalisation plan. FNB is a technical support wing of
the MoWCD, headquartered in Delhi.
✓ The FNB ceased operations effective 1
December 2023, following the formal
dissolution approval on 30 November 2023.
✓ The FNB was originally established under the
Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. In
1993, it was transferred to the MoWCD.
MoRTH releases New Driving License Rules
w.e.f. June 1, 2024; Makes Driving Tests at
RTO Optional
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH)
announced new regulations aimed at simplifying the
process of obtaining a driving license (DL) with effect
from 1st June 2024.
✓ Under the new regulations, applicants now
have option to take their driving tests at
privately operated driving training centres.
✓ Prospective drivers can choose to apply for a
driver’s licence either online through the
official website (https://parivahan.gov.in/) or by visiting an RTO in person.
✓ If minors are found driving, a fine of Rs
25,000 will be imposed. The vehicle owner’s
registration will be canceled, and the minor will
be ineligible for a license until the age of 25.

Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation
(MoSPI) released the latest Periodic Labour Force
Survey (PLFS) for 15-29 year age group for JanuaryMarch, 2024 Quarter for FY24(2023-24). As per PLFS,
Kerala topped youth unemployment rate among 15-29
age group at 31.8% for Q4 (Jan-March) FY24.
✓ Other than Kerala, states which topped in
youth unemployment among 15-29 age group
for Q4FY24: Jammu & Kashmir (28.2%),
Telangana(26.1%), Rajasthan (24%) and
Odisha (23.3%).
✓ While, Delhi registered the lowest
unemployment rate among 15-29 age group at
3.1% for Q4 FY24, followed by Gujarat(9%),
Haryana (9.5%), among others.
✓ Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) registered the highest
unemployment rate for women at 48.6% for
Q4 FY24.

Originating From SE Asian Region
Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) constituted a interministerial committee of various law enforcement and
intelligence agencies to tackle the increasing organised
cybercrimes originating from South-East (SE) Asian
countries like: Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos PDR.
✓ The high-powered committee is chaired by
VSK Kaumudi, Special Secretary (internal
security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
✓ Other members in the committee are officers
from Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Department of Financial Services, Banks, Financial
Intelligence Unit (FIU), Department of
Telecommunication (DoT) and financial
technology companies, among others as its
members.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan
attended ‘Exercise Cyber Suraksha 2024’,
highlighting the critical importance of enhancing India’s
cyber defence capabilities. The exercise has been
conducted by the Defence Cyber Agency from 20th to
24th May 2024 in New Delhi (Delhi), aiming to develop
Cyber Defence Capability of all Cyber security
organisations and promote cooperation amongst all
stakeholders.

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IndianOil) has handed over
a state-of-the-art green hydrogen fuel cell bus to the
Indian Army at the National War Memorial, India Gate,
New Delhi, Delhi. This will promote sustainable, ecofriendly transportation solutions.
✓ IndianOil and the Indian Army also signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to
pioneer the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell
technology for heavy-duty e-mobility.

Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has
inaugurated its first largest Green Hydrogen (GH2)
Plant at Vijaipur complex in Madhya Pradesh (MP). It
has been installed in line with the National Green
Hydrogen Mission (NGHM).
✓ The plant has a capacity to produce 4.3 tonnes
per day (TPD) of hydrogen through
10 MegaWatt (MW) Proton Exchange
Membrane (PEM) Electrolyzer by using
renewable power to perform electrolysis of
water.

under the Ministry of Skill Development and

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of
Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and
CSC eGovernance Services India Limited, a Special
Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has signed an Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) to provide the eMigrate services
through Common Services Centres (CSCs) in India.
✓ Under this MoU, eMigrate Portal of MEA would
be integrated with CSC’s portal, to provide
eMigrate services to the citizens through CSCs

(DIA CoE) on IITK campus for interdisciplinary
research in next-generation defence technologies.
