A
Mechanical/functional block to the outflow of urine, which can affect any part along the urinary tract

What are the causes of Urinary Obstruction ?
A
- Congenital (meatus stenosis, stricture of urethra,bladder neck obstruction)
- Intrinsic (calculus, infection, trauma, inflammation, stricture)
- Extrinsic (pregnant, trauma, carcinoma)

What are the effects of Urinary Obstruction ?
A
- Reduced glomerular filtration rate
- Reduced renal blood flow
- Imparted renal concentrating ability
- Impaired distance; tubular function (renal salt washing)
- Post-op diuresis

What are the managements for Urinary Obstruction ?
A
- Catheterisation
- STRICT urine output monitoring
- Surgical intervention (removal of stone, percutaneous nephrostomy)
- Drugs therapy (analgesics, antibiotics)
- Emergency dialysis
- Replace of electrolyte imbalance
