4 spheres Flashcards
Atmosphere
the gases surrounding the earth, made up of O2, nitrogen H2O etc.
Biosphere
living things, flora (plants/vegetation) and fauna (animals
Lithosphere/geosphere
solid, outer part of Earth, landforms
Hydrosphere
all water found on earth including underground water, lakes, rivers, etc.
how do humans impact the Atmosphere
gases such as carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide, and dust are emitted from human activities such as transportation, mining and industry
how do humans impact the Lithosphere/geosphere
solid, outer part of Earth, landforms are altered by humans, e.g.
overfarming can cause soil erosion (soil is washed or blown away) while mining can destroy rocks and impact soils
Hydrosphere human impacts:
- irrigation takes water from water stores or flows for farming
-industry can sometimes pollute or warm water in stores or flows
jhow do humans impact the Biosphere -
humans use living things, flora (plants/vegetation) and fauna (animals) which reduces biodiversity
